U izlaganjima će biti predstavljeni načini kako su fotografkinje djelovale u ratnim situacijama i drugim kriznim stanjima, što će omogućiti nova znanja unutar ovoga nedovoljno istraženog područja.
Budući da je kršenje ženskih ljudskih prava jedan od istaknutih aspekata koji dominiraju zonama sukoba, ova tema odjekuje mnogim realnostima s kojima se susreću (ili su se susretale) žene u cijeloj regiji, uključujući zemlje Južnog Kavkaza i Balkana. Tijekom godina, fotografkinje su bile aktivne u dokumentiranju kršenja ljudskih prava, zagovarale su žene i inicirale stvarne promjene u područjima sukoba ili nakon sukoba. No, u suvremenoj historiografiji fotografije njihovi su doprinosi često izostavljeni. Rasprava o fotografiji sukoba gotovo se uvijek vrti oko žestokih akcija ratne fotografije i u njoj snažno dominira tradicionalna muška perspektiva.
